Dr Carmen Barnes
Originally trained in the USA, Dr. Barnes initially pursued her medical training through Brown / Dartmouth Medical School in the USA and then went on to become board-certified in General Practice through the University of New Mexico. After completion of this training, she worked in many different clinical environments, including Accident & Emergency, Hospital and Clinic settings. What soon became clear to Dr. Barnes is that whilst the health care system generally works amazingly well for people with urgent health concerns, the management of chronic health conditions leaves much to be desired.
Dr. Barnes went on to become board-certified in Functional & Integrative Medicine through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M, now known as the Metabolic Medical Institute) and also underwent training courses through the Institute of Functional Medicine. Finally, she felt she could help those dealing with issues such as fibromyalgia, IBS, memory loss, hormone imbalances and other “frustrating” health conditions that do not typically have good clinical outcomes, at least within the confines of the conventional medical establishment.
Dr. Barnes is a passionate believer in supporting the body’s innate healing mechanisms through proper nutrition, stress management and targeted nutritional support. Dr. Barnes has completed many training courses within the field of Functional & Integrative Medicine, including hormone replacement therapy; ozone therapy; heavy metal chelation and the management of environmentally driven conditions such as mold toxicity and food allergies / intolerances.
